Event: Web3 and the Metaverse – Innovation Made in Switzerland

Many interested guests joined us at the SHED in Zug for an inspiring evening dedicated to Web3 and metaverse use cases – developed in and for Switzerland.

Together with Inacta Ventures and the SHED Zug, we hosted an event that put a spotlight on Swiss innovation in the fields of Web3 and the metaverse. While artificial intelligence currently dominates the headlines and the Gartner Hype Cycle suggests the metaverse has passed its “hype phase,” we remain convinced: the metaverse is anything but dead. In business, education, industry, and society, momentum continues to build.

Our speakers demonstrated just how vibrant the Swiss ecosystem is:

  • Tom Rieder (Inacta Ventures) presented the Metaverse of the City of Zug – Switzerland’s first public city metaverse.

  • Marco Heuberger (Footbloc) showcased how phygital solutions and art tokenization can open new opportunities for artists by bridging digital and physical spaces.

  • Dr. Daniel Diemers, Board Member and Head Expert Tribe of the Swiss Metaverse Association, offered a global perspective and emphasized that only a long-term approach will lead to success. He outlined six key building blocks of the metaverse: devices, AI agents, data centers, VR goods and economy, blockchain, and regulation.

The discussions also raised important questions:

  • Where do we currently stand on the roadmap for the metaverse and virtual reality?

  • Did Apple’s approach slow down development – or are we simply at the “Palm Pilot stage” of a new computing era?

  • And how can virtual reality truly benefit society?

Our sincere thanks go to Inacta Ventures, the SHED, our speakers, and all participants. Your interest and engaged discussions made this evening a success. We look forward to continuing this journey together – exploring how Web3 and the metaverse will shape the future of Switzerland and beyond.
